Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior political figure said the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
